Cake Design and Consultation

All our cakes are made to order. You can browse our portfolio or we can design something unique for you. We offer no-obligation design consultations for all cakes.  Up to 30 minutes, no charge for cakes under $300, an hour for cakes up to $800 and a sit down consult of up to two hours for cakes over $800. Any cake ordered from a picture or photo of a cake produced elsewhere can only be reproduced by us as our interpretation of the cake and will not be a replica. Please be aware that copyright also protects some designs and, therefore, cannot be copied.  Quotes are valid for 30 days.

We are more than happy to design a cake for you, or discuss your design over the phone.  Please note, that anything over the above mentioned, we will have to start charging an hourly rate.

We are more than happy to purchase a personalised topper for your from our supplier.  We do not receive discounts, and only charge you what they charge us.  You will have to know the exact cake topper you wish to order, so we do not have go back and forth between you, the supplier and ourselves too much.

Serving Sizes

Cake serving sizes are estimated. Speciality cakes, carved cakes and method of slicing may affect the total serving number. Customer understands and accepts these terms, and must order their products accordingly after having considered these variables. Please ask for a cake cutting guide to follow to get the ordered servings.

Cancellations

Your 50% deposit will only be refunded to you should you give more than 3 weeks notice of cancellation. In the rare instance where we are unable to fulfil your order, all efforts will be made to find a suitably qualified decorator.  We retain the right to cancel the booking in very unusual circumstances beyond our control, such as fire or ill health, during which we will refund any money taken in full.

Non-Payments

For cake deliveries, please note, if full payment of your order is not received 5 days before the delivery date, it will be assumed that the cake has been cancelled. The cancellation policy, therefore, applies in this case, and your deposit will not be refunded.

Pickups

We will contact your prior to your order date to arrange a suitable time for collection, at our Bentleigh East address.

Once your order has been collected, all responsibility for the cake is transferred to the customer. We make every effort to ensure the cake is structured safely for travel and we are not liable for any loss or damage caused after collection.

Deliveries

Delivery fees are calculated based on distance travelled and will be included as an itemised charge on invoice. We will also itemise a set up fee if necessary.  An additional fee will incur should your venue have limited parking or in a large complex. Once your cake has been delivered we are not liable for any loss or damage caused.

Set Up

While we try to ensure your cake is presented looking it's very best, the stability or levelness of the table upon which the cake is displayed or the quality of the surroundings around the cake is not in our control. Please ensure the 'cake presentation table' is stable, level and sturdy enough to hold the cake. A large six tier rich fruit wedding cake can weight up to 7Kg. Please also remember that chocolate covered cakes can melt under extreme conditions as are found within a marquee on a hot Summers day. If the cake is to be set up by the venue staff, we will leave instructions on how the cake is to be displayed and obtain a signature to verify that I have done so. Once the cake is delivered or collected, set-up, and signed for we are not responsible for any interference or damage to the cake.

Hiring of Cake Stands/Equipment

Cake stands or equipment that is hired is to be returned no later than 48 hours after your event.  Any item returned broken will result in loss of bond.  Items are to be returned in the same condition as received. Please show respect and care with hired equipment.

Changes

It is more than okay should you change your mind regarding the design of your cake, however any changes to your order must be finalised no later than 14 days prior to delivery or collection.  Please be aware that any changes made within 14 days of your due order date may incur additional costs.  We allow for less days notice on small orders.

Non-Edible Supplies

Your order may contain some non-edible items such as ribbons, cake dowels, flowers or feather holders or wires in sugar flowers. On delivery, we will make the recipient aware of any non-edible items that must be removed before the cake is sliced and served.

Allergens

We cater for Nut Free and Gluten Free, however please be aware that although ingredients can be removed from the cakes, they are still used in our kitchen so we cannot guarantee that any of our cakes are completely free of them.

Weather

Heat and humidity can adversely affect your cake. In warmer months, it is advised the cake be kept in an air conditioned area or, at the very least, a cool area. (Refrigeration is not recommended for fondant cakes). It is strongly suggested that cakes being collected by the customer be transported in an air-conditioned vehicle. You understand that we are in no way responsible for any damage that may occur due to weather conditions.

Storage

Your cake will be baked as close to your delivery/collection day as possible to ensure quality and freshness.

Cakes covered with fondant should NEVER be refrigerated, and should be stored in a cool, dry place, preferably in the box that it is supplied in.

Buttercream cake/cupcakes and naked cakes can be refrigerated, then removed from the fridge and brought to room temperature prior to serving. However in the cooler months they will be fine left out on the bench.

As we are unaware of how long the cake will remain in the open once it has been cut, and depending on the weather it is therefore at the client’s discretion and responsibility to how long they wish to keep and eat the cake after their event.  Once food has been delivered, the responsibility of consumption lies with the customer and, therefore, indemnifies my business of all liability for personal use.

Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container or covered with glad wrap and kept in the refrigerator. If you’d like to freeze your leftovers we recommend cutting into smaller portions, covering with multiple layers of glad wrap then a layer of silver foil to save from freeze burn and stored in an airtight container.
